Individuals who test positive for COVID-19 follow the protocol established by the league and the players' association. Club medical staff are in regular communication with individuals who test positive to monitor symptoms. Staal said he was “the first guy to test positive” and said he was “as surprised as anyone else – really in shock” after finding out. He said he was trying to be safe and follow health protocols before testing positive.

In past recessions, fast-growing emerging markets have helped bail out the global economy. As global growth slows and the United States' economy shows signs of weakness, investors are looking for places where their money will grow. In the recession following the financial crisis, China provided a boost for the global economy, growing nearly 9% on the back of strong domestic spending. "Without China, global growth would have been negative in 2009," said Bank of America strategist David Hauner in a note. It will be hard for other emerging markets to step in and help avoid a global recession as long as the US dollar remains strong: Emerging economies tend to borrow in dollars.

Sheriff Wayne Ivey said the evacuation goes into effect at 8 a.m. Sunday. Hurricane Dorian was strengthening Friday night. Coastal areas could get 6 to 12 inches of rain and 18 inches in some places.

Mark Wilson/Getty Images(CNN) - A year after a rare form of cancer ended the life of legendary singer Aretha Franklin, her memory is inspiring more funding to try to find a cure. The Aretha Franklin Fund for Neuroendocrine Cancer Research has been launched by the Neuroendocrine Tumor Research Foundation (NETRF) in Boston, the Detroit Free Press reported. Franklin died on August 16, 2018 from the disease. Neuroendocrine tumors afflict about 171,000 people in the United States and it's an often-misunderstood disease. Pancreatic cancer is actually a different form of cancer known as pancreatic adenocarcinoma.

The emergency alert system (EAS) tone is used on television and cellphones to warn people of impending emergencies such as tornadoes and floods. "THIS IS A TEST of the National Wireless Emergency Alert System. AMC's "The Walking Dead" got fined $104,000 for using simulated EAS tones in two scenes in February. Television series "Lone Star Law" also misused the emergency alert system tone, the agency said.

This calculation comes from the World Resources Institute, a global research nonprofit that supports better use of natural resources to sustain a growing population. The global demand for ruminant meat, meaning beef, sheep and goat, is expected to be even higher, at 88%. In 2010, Americans ate 59.3 pounds of beef, according to the US Department of Agriculture. Eating less red meat might be good for the planet, but it could also help your health.

Mark Wilson/Getty Images(CNN) - A flash flood emergency has been issued for the Washington D.C. metro area until 11:15 a.m. by the National Weather Service. In the last hour alone, some spots just west of the nation's capital have seen over 3 inches of rain, especially along the Potomac River. Extremely heavy rain continues to fall over much of the area, including the District of Columbia. More than a dozen high water rescues have already been reported in the area. "Most flood deaths occur in vehicles," according to the National Weather Service, which advises against driving into "any area where water covers the road."
