A Tampa man was arrested Thursday for allegedly stealing two Spanish gold coins worth more than $50,000 from a Lower Keys resident, authorities confirmed Friday.

An endangered sawfish rescued last month in the Florida Keys after it was spotted acting erratically and swimming in circles has died as wildlife officials continue to search for what is causing fish to become distressed.

Tropical Storm Zeta formed in the western Caribbean overnight out of Tropical Depression Twenty-Eight, which formed more or less on schedule yesterday afternoon. Zeta’s eventual track will take it into the Gulf of Mexico and over the northern Gulf coast about midweek. The official National Hurricane Center forecast calls for Zeta to be at or near hurricane strength at that time. Tropical Storm Zeta forecast advisory information for Sunday, Oct. 25 at 8am. On the current schedule, Zeta would reach the northern Gulf coast on Wednesday.
