A University of Florida student vanished after a traffic stop in Gainesville and a state lawmaker said on Monday that his case was concerning.

Dozens of people gathered at the Krome Detention Center to protest the conditions there on Saturday.

An all-out search continued Friday for a detainee who escaped the Krome Detention Center in far west Miami-Dade.

Miami-Dade police assisted U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in a search for a prisoner escapee Thursday morning near the Krome Detention Center in the western portion of the county, authorities confirmed.

You know, his testimony was so riveting," Garcia's attorney, Willy Allen, later said. Authorities said a ground crew member unloading luggage at Miami International Airport found Garcia on Aug. 16. "If he were to be sent back, he would be persecuted because of the way he left Cuba," Allen said. "He has a position or job of trust," Allen said.
