A helicopter crashed into a canal in southwest Miami-Dade Wednesday afternoon, killing one person and injuring another, a spokesperson for the county’s police department said.

Three vehicles were involved in a crash early Monday morning in west Miami-Dade that left one driver dead, authorities confirmed.

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A 17-year-old boy has been taken to Kendall Regional Medical Center after an apparent accidental shooting, authorities confirmed. The incident was reported just after 11:15 a.m. Wednesday at a home in the 7800 block of Southwest 35th Terrace. Miami-Dade police said the teen was hospitalized in critical condition. It’s unclear whether the shooting was self-inflicted, however authorities said the information coming through the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) was that the teen accidentally shot himself in the head. Miami-Dade Police Detective Khristopher D. Welch confirmed that the police department’s Midwest District will take the lead role in the investigation.

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Two elderly people were transported to Kendall Regional Medical Center Monday morning after a fire erupted inside of their home. According to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Marc Chavers, a neighbor called 911 after seeing smoke and told police that they believed people were inside of the home. Chavers said officers were first to arrive and tried to get inside the house. Once firefighters arrived, crews were able to break open the front door and found the two elderly victims inside a bedroom in the back of the house. Chavers said he was not sure whether the home had any smoke detectors, but said no alarms were sounding when crews arrived.

SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, Fla. – A one-car crash in Southwest Miami Dade sent 5 people to the hospital early Saturday morning. Miami-Dade Police said they responded to a vehicle crash in the area of SW 128th Street and 137th Avenue. MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A woman and a baby were at the scene of an early Monday morning shooting that left one man dead and another injured in Miami-Dade, police said. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel responded about 4:35 a.m. to the Doral View Apartments and took the survivor of the shooting to the Kendall Regional Medical Center’s South Florida Trauma. Detectives were investigating the shooting at 1012 NW 87 Ave., according to Alvaro Zabaleta, a spokesman for the Miami-Dade Police Department. MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. A 26-year-old man turned himself in to authorities Monday night, days after a fatal shooting occurred outside a barbershop near Florida International Universitys main campus. Guillermo Alejandro Gazapo-Figueroa, of Miami, faces a second-degree murder charge in connection with Thursdays shooting outside Superior Barbershop off Southwest 107th Avenue and Eighth Street. Police said the men got into a brief confrontation before Contreras Carmona was escorted out of the barbershop. Witnesses told detectives that Gazapo-Figueroa remained inside the barbershop for a short time and pulled out a gun from his fanny pack. Authorities said Gazapo-Figueroa then walked outside to the parking lot, where he shot Contreras Carmona multiple times before fleeing the scene in a white Mercedes-Benz SUV.

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. A 39-year-old man was killed Thursday afternoon in a shooting at a shopping center near Florida International Universitys main campus, police say. Detectives say an argument inside a barbershop spilled outside into the parking lot along Southwest 8th Street and 107th Avenue. A subject pulled out a firearm, shooting the victim multiple times, said Det. Zabaleta said the suspect fled in a white vehicle in an unknown direction. A Be on the Lookout was issued earlier in the afternoon for a white Mercedes-Benz SUV that was spotted leaving the scene.

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A 3-year-old boy died Friday near Homestead after the driver of a Dodge Charger lost control and crashed into a Valentine’s Day vendor’s tent, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Witnesses said the boy was with his mother, who was selling Valentine’s Day gifts, when the driver of the Charger was speeding out of the Spitzer Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Homestead. The car was traveling north on U.S. Highway 1 when it crashed into the tent set up across the street. The man who was driving the car with a woman as a passenger remained at the scene of the crash. The boy was airlifted by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue to Kendall Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. - A third teenager has been arrested in connection with his alleged role in the fatal shooting of a high school student at a Halloween party in southwest Miami-Dade County. Marcos Gonzalez was arrested Wednesday on a charge of second-degree murder. Angel Cueli, a 15-year-old student at Miami Coral Park Senior High School, was shot as he stood with other guests outside the home where the party was being held. According to a police report, Gonzalez admitted to driving Cao and Hernandez to the party, knowing "their intentions to commit a shooting." Police say Marcos Gonzalez, 18, acted as the driver for two other suspects in the fatal shooting of a 15-year-old boy at a Halloween house party.

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. - Police have arrested a 17-year-old in connection with the fatal shooting of a high school student at a Halloween party in southwest Miami-Dade County. A second suspect was taken into custody Tuesday night, according to the Miami-Dade Police Department. Hernandez was arrested at his residence and admitted to participating in the shooting, according to authorities. No motive was immediately given for the shooting, but police had previously said Cueli was not specifically targeted. After being shot, Cueli was transported to Kendall Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. - A 15-year-old boy who was shot and killed while attending a Halloween party in southwest Miami-Dade County was a freshman at Miami Coral Park Senior High School. "No mother should have to bury her son," Patty Huergo told Local 10 News on Monday. "I called it again and my heart just hit my -- hit my foot." Angel Cueli's parents are begging anyone with information to come forward so police can find their son's killer. "I never knew my son touched as many lives as I have witnessed today."

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. - According to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue officials, a teenager was struck by a vehicle Thursday afternoon on Southwest 288th Street in southwest Miami-Dade. The victim was airlifted to Kendall Regional Medical Center. The Miami-Dade Police Department indicated the driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene and this is not currently being investigated as a hit-and-run. According to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue officials, crews arrived at the scene to find the dump truck on its side with the driver trapped inside. Officials said firefighters extricated the driver from the truck. After the victim was airlifted to the hospital, firefighters found the driver's kitten in the cab of the vehicle. Officials said the kitten will remain in safe hands until the driver or a relative is able to pick it up.

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. - Three people, including a teenager, were wounded Sunday in a drive-by shooting in the West Perrine neighborhood of southwest Miami-Dade County, police said. The shooting occurred while the victims were sitting on the front porch of their home on Southwest 174th Terrace near 103rd Avenue. He said a man, woman and 15-year-old boy were injured in the drive-by shooting. Colome said the boy was shot in the back and taken to Kendall Regional Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition. "This drive-by gun violence -- they need to stop it," Wright said.

Alex Gomez was holding a gun while driving on the Palmetto Expressway. The 21-year-old driver of a Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck told Florida Highway Patrol troopers that he accidentally shot himself in the leg while driving in Miami-Dade County's city of Doral. Gomez is recovering from the injury to his right leg on Saturday. Troopers found him wounded about 5 p.m., Friday, near Northwest 58th Street. Troopers said they don't believe the shooting is related to a road rage incident.

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. - A child nearly drowned Tuesday afternoon at a home in west Miami-Dade County, authorities confirmed. The incident was reported in the area of Southwest 138th Place and 13th Street. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue officials said the child was transported to Kendall Regional Medical Center from the MD Now Urgent Care center on Flagler Street.
