Two of the leading voices in the debate over HB-1 joined This Week in South Florida hosts Michael Putney and Glenna Milberg to discuss. State Senator Jason Pizzo is a Democrat from Northwest Miami-Dade who chairs the Criminal Justice Committee where the bill has been bottled up. State Rep. Juan Fernandez-Barquin is a Republican who represents a portion of Southwest Miami-Dade and he’s been one of the bill’s prime sponsors. MIAMI BEACH, Fla. Tenants at one Miami Beach rental property are too afraid to speak on camera after they say they got intimidating emails from CIMCO Property Management threatening federal investigations for those who have not paid their rent. One email said the building would report tenants who have received federal assistance and willfully not paid rent, saying they would be "investigated and reported to authorities." A local management company does not have a relationship with the IRS, they are not an agent of the IRS or any federal agency, Pizzo said. The company has also posted messages on Facebook saying tenants got to pay your rent!! No excuses as well as other posts with job openings for those who need help paying their rent.

His pitch is a tri-party agreement with banks, landlords and tenants. They saved all their life to get this one piece of real estate. Theyre going to lose it, she said.

A coalition of Miami restaurants sent a pointed letter to the mayor demanding evidence that compliant restaurant businesses had anything to do with the exploding COVID-19 numbers.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - New legislation is coursing its way through the Florida State House. It's modeled after a Maryland bill that went into effect this month, essentially banning placing pregnant inmates in isolation.
