Staley agreed to become the Los Angeles Chargers' coach on Sunday night after one season as the defensive coordinator for the crosstown Rams. “It’s not just that Brandon possesses a tremendous football mind that makes him the ideal head coach to lead our team forward,” general manager Tom Telesco said in a statement. He is the third assistant under Rams coach Sean McVay to get an NFL head coaching job, joining Green Bay's Matt LaFleur and Cincinnati's Zac Taylor.

The 32-year-old Moore was a candidate at his alma mater after Bryan Harsin took the Auburn job. Moore was the winningest quarterback in college football history with a 50-3 record when he left Boise State in 2011.

Baltimore's fourth straight victory, combined with Pittsburgh's win over Indianapolis, lifted the Ravens past the Colts in the AFC wild-card hunt. The win got the Browns closer to clinching their first playoff spot since 2002, the NFL’s longest drought. Garrett has been at team headquarters off and on since the season ended, according to two people familiar with the situation. The decision figured to be a difficult one for Jones, who hired Garrett as offensive coordinator before naming Wade Phillips coach in 2007. When Dallas finished the season 5-3, it was almost a foregone conclusion that Garrett would get the permanent job.
