A career criminal from Fort Lauderdale is facing several charges after police said he kidnapped, beat and tried to rob and sexually assault a healthcare worker near Broward Health Imperial Point hospital, according to court documents obtained by Local 10 News on Tuesday.

Earlier this month and without warning, residents said locks were placed on the gates of Dottie Mancini Park in Fort Lauderdale.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - Several cars were broken into in a Fort Lauderdale neighborhood sometime overnight Sunday. Police said 19 vehicles were burglarized in the Imperial Point neighborhood. Two victims told Local 10 News that nothing was taken from either of their cars. The victims think whoever broke into the vehicles was looking for weapons.
