The U.S. Department of Homeland Security announced Wednesday that a group of federal agents had arrested a man in Broward County who was accused of formerly spying for Cuba.

In an exclusive interview with Local 10 News Thursday, Anthony Salisbury, HSI Miami’s Special Agent in Charge, spoke about the ongoing initiatives aimed at preventing sexual predators from utilizing Miami as a gateway to exploit some of the world’s most vulnerable children overseas.

Weston, Fla. - Special agents from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement executed a criminal search warrant in Weston. Late Thursday morning, Homeland Security Investigations agents entered a home off Lantana Drive inside The Islands residential community in Weston, Florida. The raid was part of a large-scale child exploitation investigation, officials said. HSI is one of the two primary divisions of ICE and has wide, sweeping jurisdiction. According to its website, the division is a "vital U.S. asset in combating criminal organizations illegally exploiting America's travel, trade, financial and immigration systems."

ICE has special customs agents, a branch of the agency many people haven't heard of. PORTLAND, Ore. - When you think of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, known as ICE for short, the immigration side is what usually comes to mind. "During the investigation we found he had returned about 3,000 phones to Apple," said Williams. Finally, Williams showed the FOX 12 Investigators a case out of state still being investigated by HSI agents. Williams said being sentenced for counterfeiting and trafficking goods could get you up to 20-years in prison.
