Miami-Dade prosecutors have filed a vessel homicide charge against George Pino Thursday in connection with a 2022 boat crash near Boca Chita Key that killed a 17-year-old girl and left another person seriously injured over two years ago.

The wife of prominent South Florida real estate broker George Pino will pay $16 million to the family of a girl seriously hurt in a September 2022 boat crash in Biscayne Bay as part of a lawsuit settlement, a Miami-Dade judge ruled.

Nearly a year after a Labor Day weekend boat crash on Biscayne Bay that killed a 17-year-old girl and injured nearly a dozen others, charges have been filed against the vessel’s operator, prosecutors announced Friday.

The parents of a girl who was among roughly a dozen injured in a September boat crash in Biscayne Bay filed a lawsuit against the adults supervising the children, as well as the volunteer fire department that responded to the scene.
