According to Johnson’s arrest report, the suspect was confronted by two employees after he placed multiple hygiene products in his backpack and walked to the front of the store to leave. Police said Johnson pulled out a knife when he was stopped by the employees and cut one of them on the arm. According to the arrest report, Johnson was taken into custody Wednesday and denied having any involvement in the incident.

A food safety inspector has ordered the staff to eradicate the rodent issue in the store or all the shelves will be cleared of food. The Family Dollar is located at 2901 West Oakland Park Blvd., west of Interstate 95. According to the inspector, rodent droppings too numerous to count were found below the pet food shelving. Local 10 News reporter Jeff Weinsier visited the store Tuesday morning and found the shelves cleared of any product in the affected area.

Several witnesses, who did not want to be identified, said the victim was known as "Loose," a homeless man who had said he was hiding from someone.
