WEST MIAMI-DADE, Fla. – Four people were killed and three others injured after a crash early New Year’s morning. According to Florida Highway Patrol, the violent crash happened at Northwest 79th Avenue and Flagler Street. According to FHP, the four victims, one woman and three men, were traveling in a blue Hyundai Elantra. FHP is looking into alcohol/drugs and excessive speed as a contributing factor in the crash. Officials said they are not releasing any names of the victims or those involved in the crash at this time.

FHP is advising travelers to avoid the area of the 18-Mile Stretch after a fatal accident. FLORIDA CITY, Fla. – A fatal motorcycle crash and investigation had traffic backed up for miles for most of the afternoon near the 18-Mile Stretch area. After promising the roads would be closed for hours, Florida Keys Sheriff reported just before 2 p.m. that lanes were open, but that drivers should continue to expect delays because of the back up. The 11:15 a.m. motorcycle crash happened near Mile Marker 114 on the Miami-Dade County side of the 18-Mile Stretch, the section of Highway One that connects Florida City to Key Largo. “Given this is a holiday weekend, we expect heavy traffic inbound to Monroe County,” the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office stated.

HIALEAH, Fla. Two people died after a wrong-way crash on Friday morning in Hialeah, according to the Florida Highway. According to Lt. Alex Camacho, a spokesman for FHP, a woman who was driving a black Subaro sedan was traveling eastbound on the westbound lanes of State Road 924. She was in the area of Northwest 57th Avenue when she collided into a black Toyota sedan with three men. The head-on collision left two of them dead and one injured. The woman driving the Subaro was also injured.
