He joined Edmonton in 1982 as an assistant coach under Glen Sather and won five Stanley Cups with the organization from 1984-90, the last one as head coach. When the Midland, Ontario, native left Edmonton, he served as director of operations and head coach for the Buffalo Sabres from 1991-95. Muckler also was head coach of the New York Rangers from 1997-2000, and spent 35 games in charge of the 1968-69 Minnesota North Stars. He became general manager of the Ottawa Senators in 2001 and helped build a team that reached the 2007 Stanley Cup final, where the Senators lost to Anaheim.
Oilers say McDavid tests positive for COVID-19
EDMONTON, AB – Edmonton Oilers star Connor McDavid has tested positive for COVID-19. McDavid, a 23-year-old forward, is self-quarantining at home and experiencing mild symptoms, according to the Oilers. “He will continue to be monitored and will follow all associated health protocols,” the team said Monday night in a statement. 1 overall pick in the 2015 draft, is widely considered the best player in the NHL. EDMONTON, Alberta - Brian Boyle and Jayce Hawryluk each had a goal and an assist and the Florida Panthers scored three goals in just over two minutes to open the second period in a 6-2 victory over the Edmonton Oilers on Sunday. Aaron Ekblad, Noel Acciari, Evgenii Dadonov and Frank Vatrano also scored for Florida. The Panthers improved to 5-2-4, earning at least a point in eight straight games. James Neal and Leon Draisaitl scored for the Oilers. The Panthers put nine shots on Oilers goalie Mike Smith as Edmonton sent seven shots on Florida starter Sergei Bobrovsky.
