Authorities took 13 Cuban migrants into custody after the group landed near Dry Tortugas National Park in the Florida Keys Monday evening, according to a U.S. Border Patrol official.

Officials with the National Park Service Monday announced an underwater discovery in South Florida that dates back to the 19th century.

Twenty-two Cuban migrants landed in Dry Tortugas National Park in the Florida Keys Thursday morning, according to the U.S. Border Patrol.

Rujaina Espino was among the Cubans who were recently stranded at the Dry Tortugas National Park. The U.S. Coast Guard transported her and over 330 others to Key West and Thursday.

The U.S. Coast Guard transported about 330 migrants on Thursday from the Dry Tortugas National Park in the Gulf of Mexico to Key West, where drivers waited in chartered buses.

At least 500 migrants have landed in the Florida Keys over the last several days in what the local sheriff’s office described on Monday as a “crisis.”

Dry Tortugas National Park will close temporarily, beginning Monday morning.

There was a possibility of tornadoes late Monday night and Tuesday across the Florida Keys. Hurricane Ian is forecast to emerge over the southeastern Gulf of Mexico to affect Key West and Key Largo before causing turmoil on the western coast of Florida.

Efforts are underway to help restore and preserve a rare species of native coral in Florida's coral reef.
