Authorities took 13 Cuban migrants into custody after the group landed near Dry Tortugas National Park in the Florida Keys Monday evening, according to a U.S. Border Patrol official.

Officials with the National Park Service Monday announced an underwater discovery in South Florida that dates back to the 19th century.

The U.S. Coast Guard transported about 330 migrants on Thursday from the Dry Tortugas National Park in the Gulf of Mexico to Key West, where drivers waited in chartered buses.

Local 10 News traveled 70 miles west of Key West toward the Dry Tortugas, where more than 300 migrants from Cuba made landfall over the New Year holiday weekend.

Scientists say some species of shark return to the same breeding grounds for decades at a time, and live longer than previously thought.

Federal authorities responded to several migrant landings in the middle and lower Florida Keys on Thanksgiving Day, sources tell Local 10 News.

With Tropical Storm Fred looming on the horizon, Monroe County officials were telling Florida Keys residents to prepare.

A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for the Florida Keys from Craig Key westward to the Dry Tortugas as Tropical Storm Elsa began slowing down Saturday evening as it passes between Haiti and Jamaica.
