MIAMI – Miami Fire Rescue personnel found a shooting victim on Monday inside a silver car on the Dolphin Expressway, also known as State Road 836, near Miami’s Flagami area. According to Miami-Dade police officers, the shooter targeted the passenger side of the car at southwest 186th Street near 107th Avenue in south Miami-Dade. Paramedics responded to help the wounded victim on SR 836 near Northwest 45th Avenue, off the Blue Lagoon. Florida Highway Patrol troopers responded to the eastbound lanes of SR 836 and blocked two eastbound lanes during the rescue. According to authorities, multiple vehicles were involved in a crash at westbound State Road-836 near northwest 87th Avenue forcing the road to close until just after 8 a.m. The officer was working an off-duty security shift in an unmarked vehicle and was taken to Kendall Regional Medical Center with a possible broken arm, authorities said. The total number of injuries and vehicles involved in the accident were unclear. A short distance away along SR-836, a single-vehicle accident occurred involving a black Audi SUV.

A gray Toyota Corolla hit a Lincoln Navigator, which spun out and hit a white Mitsubishi Outlander. According to Florida Highway Patrol troopers, rescuers had to use machinery to free the driver of the Corolla, which had severe front and back damage. The woman was later taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital in stable condition. It is still unknown what led up to the crash.

"I just want to give a big thank you, first of all, to God for me still being here," Norton told reporters outside the hospital. Next, I would like to thank the Miami Dolphins family. Norton and his girlfriend were injured early in the morning July 4 in a crash where the Dolphin Expressway meets the Palmetto Expressway. Camacho said Norton was taken to the hospital with "severe injuries to his left arm."

MIAMI - A stretch of Florida's Turnpike was closed in both directions Wednesday morning in Miami. The turnpike was closed between the Southwest Eighth Street exit and the Dolphin Expressway because of emergency construction. Florida Department of Transportation workers were removing an overhead sign that spans both directions at Southwest Eighth Street. "It is currently unsafe to allow vehicles to travel under the sign structure," the FDOT said in a news release. The turnpike was closed for several hours before reopening shortly before 10:30 a.m.

A Miami police officer wiped out on his motorcycle on the Dolphin Expressway Wednesday afternoon, a Miami police representative said. Sky 10 was above the Dolphin Expressway westbound at 27th Avenue just after 4 p.m. as paramedics and multiple police offers remained at the scene. About 10 police motorcycles were parked on the side of the highway as well as numerous police cars. Police said the officer wiped out on the gravel and then slid under a vehicle, which dragged him for a little bit. The officer was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital to be checked out, but authorities said he did not suffer serious injuries.
