A call came in at 3:18 p.m. in the 5000 block of Northwest Fifth Street in Rainberry Woods alerting police to the boy in the car. Detectives said the boy, who would have turned 2 years old in August, had been playing with other kids and may have been in the hot car for hours before family members knew. The boy was taken by Delray Beach Fire Rescue to Bethesda Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time after arriving, police said. No further details were given.
