District 27 includes an area of Miami-Dade that includes the cities of Miami, Miami Beach, South Miami, West Miami, Coral Gables, and North Bay Village. FEC records from January 2019 to October, show Mucarsel-Powell raised more than $6 million and Gimenez raised about $1.96 million. Shalala raised $3.4 million, and Salazar raised about $3.1 million.

MIAMI – About 90 international passengers remain aboard the Coral Princess ship at PortMiami, as others left Tuesday on nine additional domestic charter flights, a spokesperson for Princess Cruises said. Princess Cruises confirmed two people on board died while the ship was at sea and there were 12 cases of the new coronavirus. A third passenger, Wilson Maa, of California, died at a Hialeah hospital Saturday night after waiting for hours to be taken off the ship. The cruise line said 545 guests disembarked Coral Princess on Sunday and another 139 left Monday, leaving 274 on board. According to the spokesperson, Coral Princess departed March 5 from San Antonio (Santiago) for a South America voyage, which was scheduled to end in Buenos Aires on March 19.

MIAMI, Fla. – The Coral Princess docked at Port Miami screened every soul before the people were loaded onto buses and headed to the airport. But the process did not happen fast enough for married couple Wilson and Toyling Maa. Lisa Ouchida is now worried about her sister, Toyling, who is in the hospital. In 2017 the State Department decided to partially shut down the American Embassy in Cuba following the alleged health attacks on embassy workers. U.S. Rep. HOMESTEAD, Fla. - After touring the Homestead Detention Center for the seventh time, Rep. Debbie Mucarsel-Powell said Saturday that she wants the "prison-like facility" to be shut down. Mucarsel-Powell toured the facility, which houses about 1,100 kids, with Rep. Veronica Escobar, Sen. Jose Javier Rodriguez and Miami-Dade County Director of Emergency Management Frank Rollason. "I have felt the same disturbing feeling that I have felt every single time that I have visited this facility." The Miami Herald published the federal governments hurricane plan that prompted the population reduction at the detention center. Rep. Debbie Waserman Schultz introduced a bill on July 22nd expanding access to federal detention centers for unaccompanied migrant children.

HOMESTEAD, Fla. - Democratic candidates for president were still in South Florida Friday after the two-night debate wrapped up. On Friday, some of them, along with other local leaders, spoke outside the facility in Homestead that houses migrant children who crossed the border unaccompanied. Many of the Democrats demanded the migrant children be freed from the shelter. Senators Kamala Harris and Kirstin Gillibrand talked one on one with the mother of a 17-year-old boy who is being held at the facility and is begging to be reunited with him. "I strongly believe that you should judge a society based on how it treats its children," Harris said.

Biden was not spotted at the Homestead facility Friday morning, but polls show Biden is still the favorite among the group of Democrats running for the nomination.
