MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – The coronavirus pandemic has made life difficult for people across the country, and South Florida has been no different. That’s why local leaders are urging Congress to make a deal to help struggling Americans. (See the press conference below)Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, Miami Beach Mayor Dan Gelber, City of Miami Mayor Francis Suarez and Miami Beach Commissioner David Richardson are hosting an event Saturday morning in Miami Beach to do just that. The South Florida elected officials held a press conference where they urged Congress to extend a stimulus package that will help millions of American citizens in need. The press conference lasted about 30 minutes, starting at 9:30 a.m. in Miami Beach.

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – Miami Beach Commissioner David Richardson said Sunday that he has tested positive for COVID-19 and he was releasing a public statement to alert anyone who may have been in contact with him. A Miami-Dade County Commissioner who was at an event Friday in South Beach with Richardson, although not having symptoms, announced she was getting tested, too. Richards said in a statement that he began having mild symptoms around 5 p.m. Saturday and tested positive Sunday. While the rapid test came back negative, however, Ulver said Levine Cava is still awaiting the results of the PCR test. Richardson mentioned in his public statement that he has been hosting food distribution events for the past 33 weeks for the city of Miami Beach.

Chiu)LOS ANGELES Light winds and scattered thundershowers early Thursday were helping to calm the flames of a huge wildfire that prompted evacuations north of Los Angeles, and firefighters hoped to reign in the blaze before temperatures spike later in the day. By nightfall, the flames had consumed more than 15.5 square miles (40 square kilometers) of timber and chaparral. About 100 rural homes were evacuated in the Lake Hughes area of the Angeles National Forest, about 60 miles (97 kilometers) north of downtown Los Angeles. Los Angeles County Deputy Fire Chief David Richardson said late Wednesday that some outbuildings may have been destroyed.

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. Several videos filmed by witnesses in South Beach Tuesday morning show a chaotic scene outside Voodoo Lounge on Ocean Drive, followed by two gunshots. According to a Miami Beach police report, two people were denied entry for not having identification. Reports and videos on social media of lawlessness were a topic of discussion at Mondays Miami Beach City commission meeting. Everyone is absolutely welcome in South Beach and Miami Beach if you are here to obey the laws and have fun. Youre not welcome, Richardson said.
