U.S. Sen. Mazie Hirono and Hawaii's incumbent congressional representatives have won their state Democratic Party primary races.

President Joe Biden has named Erika Moritsugu, a Capitol Hill veteran and vice president of a women’s rights advocacy group, as his liaison to the Asian American and Pacific Islander community.

Kahele is favored to win the Democratic Partys nomination to represent Hawaiis 2nd Congressional District in the primary election. Kahele’s bold move paved the way for him to claim an easy victory Saturday in the Democratic primary for Hawaii’s 2nd Congressional District. Kahele is the overwhelming favorite to win the seat in November in heavily Democratic Hawaii. Incumbent U.S. Rep. Ed Case won the Democratic nomination for the 1st Congressional District seat after he ran unopposed. He represented the 2nd Congressional District from 2002 to 2007 and served in the state House from 1994 to 2002.
