The agency said the ventilators were being prepared for shipment to El Salvador by the United States Agency for International Development when they were stolen sometime around Aug. 8. The theft happened in southwest Miami-Dade County, the agency said. The theft is being investigated by the Boynton Beach Police Department, Miami-Dade Police Department, Medley Police Department, City of Miami Gardens Police Department, Broward Sheriffs Office, USAID Office of the Inspector General, the FBI Miamis Major Theft Task Force, and the FBI, the agency said. No additional details were released.

A former police officer with the Boynton Beach Police Department was sentenced to 30 months in prison for possessing child pornography, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida Ariana Fajardo Orshan announced Thursday in a news release. Gabriel Albala, 45, of Margate, was also sentenced to five years of supervised release following his prison term, and he must register as a sex offender. Albala pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography on Jan. 17. According to detectives, they were alerted about Albala after they arrested a man who they said sold child pornography on the internet. Authorities said child pornography was also found on Albalas cellphone.

According to the Boynton Beach Police Department, a 14-year-old threatened to commit a mass shooting a local supermarket. An employee of Publix Super Markets contacted police after being made aware of the threat. An investigation led police to the boy's house, where he allegedly admitted to posting the threat. Police charged the teen with making written threats to kill, do bodily injury or conduct a mass shooting or act of terrorism.

Ronald Richard Olson III, 38, was taken into custody and booked into the Broward County Jail, authorities said. On May 19, Robin Leia Kirsch, 37, of Pompano Beach died from injuries sustained in a car accident that occurred while she was a passenger in a car driven by Olson.
