Amid an affordability crisis in South Florida, lawyers for Bal Harbour Shops claim that officials in the posh island community are illegally trying to roadblock plans to add workforce housing to the upscale mall.

An upscale shopping center in one of South Florida’s most upscale island communities could play home to workforce housing.

Mediterranean restaurants are popping up in South Florida, and the latest one has roots in Chicago and a “Top Chef” alum.

Authorities were quick to say that the incident was not related to an active shooter.

A client development manager at the Saks Fifth Avenue store at the Bal Harbour Shops was arrested earlier this week on accusations that he defrauded the store out of about $800,000, authorities said.
