Shoppers told Local 10 they heard the fire alarm and were told to evacuate, but a spokesperson from Aventura Mall said there was no official evacuation. It appears the fire started in a restaurant kitchen, but officials said that is still under investigation. Firefighters used platform trucks to get to the roof and supply water and foam to the fire. Officials said 23 Miami-Dade fire units were on scene to battle the flames.

AVENTURA, Fla. Police have identified the man who sent bullets flying inside the Nordstrom store at Aventura Mall on Friday morning. At last check, one of the victims remained in critical condition after undergoing surgery and the other is stable condition. AVENTURA, Fla. Two people were taken as trauma alerts to Aventura Hospital & Medical Center Friday morning following an incident at Aventura Mall, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue officials confirmed. Sky 10 was above the scene as two ambulances drove away from the mall. An employee took to Twitter shortly after the incident, claiming a shooting had occurred inside the Nordstrom store, however authorities did not immediately confirm how the two people were injured. The employee said the shooting occurred on the first floor of the store following an argument between customers. She said the store was evacuated after the incident.

Employees working inside the Aventura Mall when shots were fired at a Nordstrom store said frightening and tense moments gave way to them being instructed by swift acting managers who worked to keep everyone safe. "We had to evacuate everybody out of the store," Whyte said. Jamia Wimbush, who works at The Gap Store inside the mall said his manager told him there was a shooting going on. He says a manager told them there was a shooting and rushed them to the back of the store. Only the Nordstrom store was closed; the rest of Aventura Mall remained opened.

AVENTURA, Fla. - A driver is dead after a Brightline train collided with an SUV in Aventura on Friday. The crash occurred at Dixie Highway and Ives Dairy Road, just across from the Aventura Mall. Police said the female driver of the Mercedes-Benz SUV died in the crash. It's not known exactly where the collision took place and how far the vehicle was pushed down the railroad tracks. A portion of Dixie Highway in the Aventura area was closed as authorities investigated the fatal crash.

AVENTURA, Fla. - The William Lehman Causeway and West Country Club Drive in Aventura are back open after two sewer main breaks caused a traffic headache. The pressure from the ruptured pipe tore a hole in the causeway Thursday night, sending wastewater gushing into a retention pond near Aventura Mall. On Saturday afternoon, utility workers replaced the 40-year-old line that burst, but then another break happened less than a half mile away. The second break forced police to shut down West County Club Drive near Spoke Road for hours. Utility workers patched up the area and officers were able to reopen the road late Saturday night.

AVENTURA, Fla. – A small monkey was spotted Tuesday near Aventura Mall, leading multiple people to call police. An Aventura police sergeant said his department has been receiving calls all day from people who have seen the monkey. And this isn't the first time a monkey has been spotted in the area. It was just last month when North Miami Beach police descended on a neighborhood after receiving multiple reports about a monkey on the loose. There was also a monkey spotted in Cooper City.

AVENTURA, Fla. – Aventura Mall was without power Friday afternoon after an outage was reported in the area, a mall representative said. One person told Local 10 News that people were asked to leave the mall after the power went out. More than 3,000 people in the Aventura area were affected by the outage. An Florida Power & Light representative said most customers were restored power within an hour. AVENTURA, Fla. – Newly released dashcam video shows a police-involved shooting from May inside a parking garage at Aventura Mall. According to police, an officer spotted the couple May 13 in a Honda Accord that was reported stolen in Hollywood. Police said the officer ordered the suspects out of the car, but Kenneth Taylor, 19, took off in the second floor of the parking garage near Bloomingdale's, nearly hitting the officer. Police said Taylor struck the officer's vehicle, as well as a number of other vehicles in the garage and a garage pillar. The video shows Taylor lay on the ground as responding officers arrest him at gunpoint.
