This Week in South Florida: Lawrence Mower

The one big issue that unites Floridians like no other is the crippling cost of storm and home insurance.

This yearā€™s legislative session starts in about 48 hours. House and senate leaders have already said theyā€™re prepared to let the reforms they made in the last two years take hold.

Some bombshell reporting last week may change that.

Itā€™s reporting that prompted House Minority Leader Fentrice Driskell to formally request house and senate leaders to open an investigation.

As your insurance premiums started to spike, Florida insurance companies were making billions in profits, at the same time they were claiming to lawmakers that they were losing money and coaching those lawmakers into making the changes that benefitted them, ultimately at your expense.

Tampa Bay Times Tallahassee Reporter Lawrence Mower unearthed that three-year old report and broke the story.

He joined This Week in South Florida host Glenna Milberg to discuss. Their discussion can be seen at the top of this page.
