This Week in South Florida: Carol Rosenberg

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis was at Homestead Air Reserve Base last week supporting Guantanamo Bay Naval Base as an off-shore detention facility for deportable people.

Defense Seretary Pete Hegseth visited Guantanamo Bay last week with one media representative, his former Fox News colleague, to tour the reactivated operations there.

Al Qaeda September 11th defendants are held there.

Guantanamo Bay was used as a way-station for thousands of Cuban migrants during the rafter crisis of the mid 90′s.

Several dozen people have been brought there and then deported out this month.

Saturday, civil rights attorneys filed a federal lawsuit to stop the transfers.

The Trump administration, intending to hold some 30,000 people there, suspended construction of tent cities, citing humanitarian concerns.

We have asked for access to document the migrant operations. Public access has so far been denied.

Joining joined This Week in South Florida host Glenna Milberg to discuss the situation is New York Times journalist Carol Rosenberg, and their conversation can be seen at the top of this page.
