This Week in South Florida: Tessa Petit

In some churches Sunday morning in South Florida’s Haitian communities, prayers for the Pope come with unrelated heightened fear.

That comes with news that the Trump administration cut short Temporary Protected Status for Haitians in the U.S. as it did for Venezuelan TPS weeks ago.

More than half a million Haitians in the United States now have until Aug. 3 to leave.

Tessa Petit hears that fear and confusion as executive director of The Florida Immigrant Coalition. She is Haitian-born and raised, but here in the U.S. for more than 20 years.

She joined This Week in South Florida host Glenna Milberg to discuss, and their discussion can be seen at the top of this page.
