Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis officially called a special session starting Monday to make tough state immigration law despite House and Senate leaders of his same party team defying the call as premature and calling it irresponsible.
As Florida watched to see who would blink, the governor did a full court press, sending texts and email blasts urging people to call their lawmakers and press for an immigration session.
Department heads in briefings with lawmakers on other state issues were suddenly bringing up “illegal immigration.”
