This Week in South Florida: Steve Gallon and Roberto Alonso

PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. – It started with a permission slip and a parent who questioned why her child’s school needed her permission for a Black History Month event.

New state education law was politically controversial from the start and now rules meant to make sure parents are informed about educational opportunities have taken the controversy to new levels.

The topic has been on the front burner since Local 10 News’ Hatzel Vela first reported the issue two weeks ago.

To get the facts straight, weed through perceptions and perhaps get some clarity, two Miami-Dade School Board members, Dr. Steve Gallon and Roberto Alonso, joined This Week in South Florida host Glenna Milberg to discuss. Their conversation can be seen at the top of this page.
