PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. – Six years ago in Tallahassee, in the face of grief-stricken and outraged families and students following the Parkland school shooting, a conservative Florida legislature and governor passed unprecedented state gun safety laws while protecting Floridians’ gun rights and protections.
Currently in Tallahassee, some lawmakers are suggesting some of that should be rolled back.
At the same time, lawmakers are supporting bills that add layers of school security.
Since 2020, Christine Hunchofsky has been a state representative and a leading voice on school safety and mental health.
Hunschofsky, a Democrat from Parkland, joined “This Week in South Florida” host Glenna Milberg to discuss. Their conversation can be seen at the top of this page.
