This Week in South Florida: Spencer Roach and Hillary Cassel

PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. – There is a new plan to upend and redo windstorm insurance, one of South Florida’s biggest, costliest budget-busting issues.

Lawmakers know this.

Recent reforms have not yet made premiums more affordable, though officials say give it time, time that some may not have.

Last week, two lawmakers made public a plan that changes almost everything about the windstorm insurance market.

State Rep. Spencer Roach, a Republican from Florida’s southwest coast that represents parts of Lee County, and State Rep. Hillary Cassel, a Democrat from Dania Beach who represents parts of Broward County, joined This Week in South Florida host Glenna Milberg to discuss.

Their conversation can be seen at the top of this page.

Roach and Cassel’s presentation can be viewed by clicking here. It begins around the 1:02:17 mark.
