PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. – Place your bets.
The always controversial question of more gambling in South Florida was just put into play for next month’s session.
The nine-page bill filed this week never mentions specifically the Fontainebleau, but arguably, it is for exactly that Miami Beach resort that this bill is filed.
It would allow parimutuels like dog tracks that hold permits to open casino gaming on those sites to transfer that permit ability to another location.
The owners of the Fontainebleau also own Broward’s Mardi Gras dog track with its casino permit.
The Senate bill does not yet have a companion bill in the House. But it’s about to, and State Rep. Alex Rizo, R-Hialeah, will be the sponsor.
Rizo talks with Local 10′s Glenna Milberg about that bill and other big political news of the week.
