PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. – Of all the back and forth and the debate and controversy over bills during last week’s special legislative session in Tallahassee, one bill waiting for the Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ signature passed the Florida House and Senate without any opposition.
Unanimous, not a single no vote.
It’s all about evening the playing field for Florida’s college athletes to be compensated for their own marketable name, image and/or likeness.
State Rep. Chip LaMarca, A Republican from Fort Lauderdale, was the quarterback and the coach, taking the bill in for a win.
