This Week in South Florida: Orlando Gonzales

PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. – With a Senate vote in favor last week and expected passage by the House of Representatives, the Respect for Marriage Act is on the verge of becoming law.

It would require all states to recognize as legal marriages from other states, including same sex and interracial marriages.

Congress passed it as a preemptive strike against any potential future attempt in the courts to overturn those protections for same sex and interracial marriages.

Orlando Gonzales is the executive director of SAVE, Safeguarding American Values for Everyone, an LGBTQ advocacy organization.

He joined This Week in South Florida hosts Michael Putney and Glenna Milberg to discuss, and their conversation can be seen at the top of this page.
