This Week in South Florida: T. Willard Fair

PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. – Sunday, June 19 is Juneteenth, marking the day 157 years ago that union soldiers brought the news to enslaved black people in Galveston, Texas that they had been freed.

This is the second year Juneteenth is celebrated as an official national holiday.

That means celebrations, and also reflection, on where our country has come since.

T. Willard Fair is the President and CEO of the Urban League of Greater Miami. He is also a veteran force for empowering young people and community building.

Fair joined This Week in South Florida hosts Michael Putney and Glenna Milberg to discuss, and their conversation can be seen at the top of this page.
