PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. – The news landed like a bombshell last week.
Broward Schools Superintendent Robert Runcie was arrested on a charge of perjury. Authorities allege Runcie lied to a Florida grand jury during testimony several weeks ago.
School district attorney Barbara Myrick was also arrested on a charge that she divulged secret grand jury proceedings to people in Broward and Miami-Dade Counties.
That grand jury was impaneled by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis to investigate school safety failures a year after the massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.
Debra Hixon, a Broward County School Board member, lost her husband Chris in the shooting, who died a hero, saving students’ lives that day.
She joined This Week in South Florida host Glenna Milberg. Their discussion can be seen at the top of this page.
