PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. – The latest COVID-19 relief checks are beginning to land as the latest coronavirus bill was passed in Congress last week.
South Florida’s stake in the American Rescue Plan includes direct cash, vaccines for all, relief and stimulus for schools and businesses.
The bill passed both houses of Congress by narrow, partisan margins, without a single vote in favor from Republicans.
They say the bill is larded with pork and delivers less than 10 percent of the money to fighting COVID-19. It also adds nearly $2 trillion dollars to the deficit.
Veteran South Florida Congressman Ted Deutch joined This Week in South Florida hosts Michael Putney and Glenna Milberg to discuss.
