This is the first major logo change for the Panthers since their inaugural season in 1993.
The new logo features a crest inspired by the military, specifically the "Screaming Eagle" patch from the 101st Airborne Division.
Panthers owner, chairman and Gov. Vincent Viola is a former member of the 101st Airborne Division, having graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in 1977, and from the U.S. Army Airborne, Infantry and Ranger Schools.
Viola also announced that the Panthers will play a preseason game at the Military Academy in West Point, New York, on Oct. 8 against the New Jersey Devils.
All proceeds from that game will benefit Wounded Warriors, Viola said.
