Heat's Burnie the mascot fails at jump, lands on fellow mascots

Stanley C. Panther tweets status of condition

MIAMI – While the Miami Heat is made up of all-star players, it appears the team's mascot has some work to do-- at least when it comes to his gymnastics skills.

Burnie appeared to have the confidence of a pro as he prepared to flip over a group of mascots lying on the court during a break in Sunday night's game against the 76ers. But he didn't clear the hurdle as well as he planned: instead of landing past his fellow mascots, he landed on top of two of them.

Burnie celebrated as if he nabbed the landing, as Stanley C. Panther and Fun Ship Freddy from Carnival Cruiselines rolled on the ground, appearing to be in pain.

Stanley C. Panther cleared the air Sunday night, tweeting to concerned followers "Don't worry, I'm a hockey player... I'll be alright. It takes a lot more than that to keep me out!"

It did not appear that Burnie has issued any comment.

The blooper happened while the Heat celebrated Burnie's birthday, an event that invited young fans out to the American Airlines Arena.
