"We are excited to have our first two games at home and at night," FIU head coach Ron Turner said in a statement. "Maryland is a good program and our guys look forward to having a 'Friday Night Lights' experience two games into the season. This will be a great opportunity for our program to be showcased on a Friday night. It should be a great atmosphere under the lights."
Maryland has won all four previous meetings against the Panthers. Their last meeting was a 43-10 victory for the Terrapins in 2013.
The Panthers previously hosted Maryland in 2007, losing 26-10.
FIU also announced that its homecoming game will be Oct. 22 against Louisiana Tech.
