Saturday afternoon began with the Dolphins trading their fourth-round selection (No. 116) and seventh-rounder (No. 224) to the Houston Texans for Houston’s sixth and their 2026 third-round pick, meaning the Dolphins would not make their first selection until the fifth round.
Maryland defensive tackle Jordan Phillips (pick No. 143) was taken off the board, adding another body to Miami’s crowded defensive line that features Bradley Chubb, Jaelan Phillips, Zach Sieler, Mohamed Kamara, Chop Robinson, and Kenneth Grant, Miami’s first-round choice Thursday.
Miami moved up in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft on Friday night, swinging a trade with the Las Vegas Raiders to select Arizona offensive tackle/ guard Jonah Savaiinaea with the No. 37 overall pick.
The Dolphins then turned their attention in Day 3 with one of their three picks in the fifth round (150) to the secondary, selecting Florida cornerback Jason Marshall Jr. – a Miami, Florida native – and Maryland safety Dante Trader Jr., with pick No. 155. Both are expected to compete for a spot on the 53-man roster come training camp.
For the third straight draft, the Dolphins added a running back with the 179th pick in the sixth round, taking Oklahoma State’s Ollie Gordon II, who led all of college football two years ago in rushing touchdowns (21) while averaging 6.1 yards per carry.
Quinn Ewers, who was drafted with the 231st pick in the seventh round, is expected to compete with Zach Wilson for the backup role behind Tua Tagovailoa, who enters his sixth season as the Dolphins lead man.
Georgia Tech defensive tackle Zeek Biggers was Miami’s final pick (253) of the draft.
Biggers is expected to be a depth piece in the event of an injury on Miami’s defensive line.
Once the Dolphins sign their undrafted free agents, they will shift their focus to the post-draft period, where the expectation is general manager Chris Grier and head coach Mike McDaniel will look to add free agent cornerbacks and offensive linemen.
