FORT LAUDERDALE – The Florida Panthers are getting ready for one of their biggest games of the regular season.
The Edmonton Oilers are making their one and only regular season visit to Sunrise to take on the Panthers.
This is a rematch of last year’s incredible Stanley Cup Final.
The Panthers won the first three games of that series.
However, Edmonton stormed back to take the next three games.
In Game 7, the Panthers were able to hold on to win 2-1 and clinch the first Stanley Cup in franchise history.
On Thursday, Panthers head coach Paul Maurice reflected on the morning of game 7.
Maurice said he got to the Arena at around 5:30 a.m.
Maurice said, “We gotta have 20 tv’s in this building. At least 16 said this was going to be the biggest collapse in the history of sports. They just left it there, it was on. Usually the banners change, they ran that one hard. So we figured out how to get the tv’s off.”
Maurice added that facing the Panthers could provide a spark for an Edmonton squad that has lost four games in a row.
