Alcantara, who missed all of last season recovering from Tommy John surgery, spoke about his return.

“I learned a lot, you know, so, but to me it was difficult, you know, because I wasn’t able to compete,” Alcantara said. “But at the same time, I was enjoying the game, supporting my teammates, and having fun together. The most important thing was being healthy.”

The 2022 Cy Young winner, who is eager to return to his dominant form, is optimistic for the season ahead.

“I think we’re going to be great,” Alcantara added. “We’re going to give a lot to the fans and the Marlins organization, and hopefully we win a lot of games this year.”

In addition to Alcantara’s return, the Marlins also welcome pitcher Eury Pérez from injury and signed veteran Cal Quantrill to bolster their pitching rotation.
