The NFL announced the honor on Tuesday, marking the first time the 26-year-old linebacker has received this recognition in his career.
Dodson’s recognition marks the Dolphins’ fourth Player of the Week honor this season, joining quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, defensive tackle Zach Sieler, and kicker Jason Sanders.
The award marks marks the first time since 2023 that the Dolphins have earned back-to-back weekly honors. That year, linebacker Bradley Chubb and Sanders were recognized in Weeks 15 and 16.
Dodson, acquired by the Dolphins off waivers from Seattle in Week 11, delivered an incredible performance against Cleveland, leading the team with a career-high 15 tackles, including eight solo stops. ‘
He also recorded an interception, a pass defensed, and a quarterback hit. His 15 tackles were the most by any defender in Week 17 and the highest by a Dolphins player since Jerome Baker tallied 16 in Week 1 of the 2020 season against New England, according to a team press release.
