Panthers, Paul Maurice agree on multi-year contract extension

SUNRISE, Fla. – Panthers head coach Paul Maurice is not going anywhere for a while.

The defending Stanley Cup Champ agreed to a multi-year contract extension with Maurice the team announced on Tuesday.

Maurice, 57, is in his third season with the Panthers.

He led the franchise to the first championship in its history.

General manager Bill Zito said, “Paul has resolutely led our organization to unprecedented success during his relatively short tenure in South Florida. He is a superb communicator and leader for our staff and players, possessing a keen strategic mind for the game. "

Maurice has a 98-58-15 regular season record as the bench boss for the Panthers.

The Panthers postseason record under Maurice is 29-16.

The 29 wins are the most in franchise history.
