Canes quarterback Cam Ward evaluates his amazing start to season as ‘mid’

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Canes quarterback Cam Ward is impressing everyone across the country except apparently himself.

The transfer from Washington State has led Miami to a 6-0 start to the season, including most recently, a 25-point second half comeback at Cal.

Ward is on every quarterback award watch list and considered a Heisman candidate.

And yet, when he was asked to evaluate his season so far on Wednesday, Ward said there’s lots of room for growth.

Ward said, “I would probably say mid. I missed a lot of plays. I missed a lot of plays I wish I could have back. That’s something that I starting to realize. Every play I get, every opportunity I get I have to take advantage of it. We just got stop leaving plays out there as a whole team, the sooner we can do that... both sides of the ball will end up playing our best ball this year.”

As for his head coach Mario Cristobal, Ward said “His best attribute as a coach is letting his players be himself in the building.”

Ward also praised that Coach Cristobal lets the team compete every day at practice.

Miami plays at Louisville on Saturday at noon.

That game can be seen in South Florida on Local 10.
