Canes play at Cal for first time since 1990, QB Cam Ward returns to familiar stadium

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The ACC has a different look this season.

As such, the Miami Hurricanes schedule looks different.

Miami will play at Cal in a conference game on Saturday night at 10:30 p.m.

It will be the first trip No. 8 Miami has made to Cal since 1990.

Miami quarterback Cam Ward is familiar with this trip.

When he played with Washington State last season, they played at Cal.

Ward said Wednesday, “I actually do like the stadium. It’s deep into the bowl, you can see everyone around it, there’s like mountains on the outside of it. So I do like the stadium. It’s a good feeling to go there. I have a few family members who will be at the game. I’m just excited for the opportunity.”

In Miami’s narrow win over Virginia Tech, Ward made a few uncharacteristic mistakes.

He threw 2 interceptions to go along with his 4 touchdown passes.

When asked if he looked over his mistakes this week, Ward said, “A good amount because it’s all stuff that we worked on before the game even when I got here in January. At the end of the day have to live by the sword, die by the sword, that’s my mindset every game.”

Ward said the Canes just have to limit the bad plays and execute their base plays.

Miami enters the game with a 5-0 record.
