MIAMI GARDENS. Fla. – Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel gave an injury update Tuesday on quarterback Skylar Thompson as the team prepares to face the Tennessee Titans on Monday Night Football.

McDaniel said Thompson is “more day to day” after sustaining a rib injury in Sunday’s 24-3 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

In his first start of the season, while filling in for Tua Tagovailoa, who is on injured reserve (IR), Thompson was hit hard by Seahawks defensive end Dre’Mont Jones during Miami’s second drive in the third quarter. He stayed down for several minutes while medical trainers checked on him but was ultimately able to get up and walk off the field, returning to the Dolphins’ locker room on his own before leaving the game.

McDaniel did not name his starting quarterback for Monday’s game but said the team will continue to evaluate the decision on who will start between Thompson, Tim Boyle and recently-signed Tyler Huntley.

“We have an important 48 hours to see where he’s (Thompson) at and get in front of the quarterback room, talk to coaches, and get them most comfortable with the varied uncertainty,” he said.

Miami Dolphins players also rallied around the need for everyone to step up, especially to make things easier for their quarterback.

“Everybody needs to enhance their play to make it easier for the quarterback that’s back there,” said Dolphins wide receiver Jaylen Waddle on Tuesday. “If we do that, it makes it a lot easier for him to do his job.”

“We have to re-identify who we are this year,” said Dolphins fullback Alec Ingold. “Right now, being 1-2, we have to look at this offense as something different from last year.”

The Dolphins (1-2) have not scored an offensive touchdown in six consecutive quarters and will look to rebound against the winless (0-3) Titans on Monday.
