Tagovailoa, while running for a first down, collided with Bills safety Damar Hamlin and was immediately removed from the game.
During his four year NFL career, Tagovailoa has now suffered three documented concussions. He said he has no plans to retire.
Due to going on IR, Tagovailoa will miss at least Miami’s next four games.
He will be next eligible to play when Miami hosts the Arizona Cardinals on Oct. 27.
Backup QB Stylar Thompson has been named the Dolphins starter for Week 3 when Miami travels to face the Seattle Seahawks.
