“He was replacing the league MVP (Lamar Jackson) and you could tell from far away he was a guy the team believed could lead them to victory.”
Says without knowing timelines on Tua, it’s a move to secure depth.
The move comes after starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa suffered a concussion during the team’s Week 2 31-10 loss vs. the Buffalo Bills. With Tagovailoa’s history of head injuries, a lengthy absence is possible.
McDaniel confirmed the team was looking to bolster their quarterback room during a press conference Friday and stated on Monday “it’s a move to secure depth.”
Huntley, 26, who spent the offseason with the Cleveland Browns before returning to Baltimore, is expected to step in as the Dolphins’ backup. Skylar Thompson is expected to take over as the starting quarterback in Tagovailoa’s absence.
Huntley, known by his peers as “Snoop,” is a Dania Beach native and played for Hallandale High School, where he passed for over 9,000 yards and threw 106 touchdowns.
Huntley played four seasons for the Ravens and threw for 1,957 yards and 8 touchdowns. He was also selected to play in the 2023 Pro Bowl.
As for Tagovailoa, McDaniel gave an update on the team’s starting quarterback, which you can read below.
