MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel gave an update on the health and playing status of running backs Raheem Mostert and De’Von Achane at a press conference Wednesday morning.

McDaniel ruled Mostert and wide reciever Malik Washington (quad) out for Thursday night’s Week 2 matchup against the Buffalo Bills. He also said that the team “will see how it plays out with Devon” before ruling him out for the game.

Miami listed Achane as a limited participant in Wednesday’s practice and set his game status as questionable.

McDaniel also confirmed that wide receiver Tyreek Hill went through a “minor” knee procedure in the offseason.

Hill spoke about undergoing knee surgery before being detained by Miami-Dade police outside Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday. The incident stemmed from an initial traffic violation, which occurred just hours before he took the field.

Neither Mostert nor Achane left the game during Sunday’s 20-17 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars due to their respective chest and ankle injuries. However, the Dolphins leaned on Jeff Wilson Jr. in the fourth quarter, giving the third back on the depth chart five of the last nine rushing attempts.

Achane finished Sunday’s game with over 100 scrimmage yards and a 1-yard touchdown run, while Mostert wasn’t really able to get anything going on the ground after rushing for 9 yards on 6 carries and recording 2 catches for 10 yards.

If Achane and Mostert are ruled out Thursday, expect the team to turn to Wilson and rookie fourth-round pick Jaylen Wright, who was a healthy scratch in Week 1.

The Dolphins will face off against the Bills at Hard Rock Stadium. Kickoff is set for 8:15 p.m.
