Tua Tagovailoa says it was emotional seeing Tyreek Hill body-cam video

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Dolphins locker room has been busy this week.

The Fins are preparing to host the Buffalo Bills on a short week, Thursday night at Hard Rock Stadium.

They are also dealing with the fallout of Tyreek Hill being handcuffed before the season opener outside of the stadium following a traffic stop.

Body-cam footage was released on Monday.

Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa said that he saw the footage.

Tagovailoa said, “It was a little emotional for hearing just Tyreek’s voice in the footage. Just knowing Tyreek, for me, A lot of the instances I see are people I don’t know and it’s happening to those people... we talked about that. It was a little emotional. I don’t know exactly how I would’ve dealt with that in that situation. I can’t speak on something that I haven’t personally gone through myself.”

The quarterback said watching the film he felt “It could have been de-escalated another way.”

Hill gathered a group of his teammates together to make change. Hill has presented a few ideas.

The quarterback said the group is going to focus on the Bills game and then focus how they can make changes.

Tagovailoa said how amazed he was by Hill’s ability to go through that and still have a big performance against the Jaguars.

Tagovailoa said there were plenty of conversations in the locker room.

Players were sharing their experiences growing up.

Tagovailoa said, the Dolphins can’t avoid talking about what’s going, “You can’t avoid the obvious, it’s a thing. Let it be what it is. Let it take it’s course. When we brush that away and let it be this football thing is the most important thing to us, this isn’t just something Tyreek’s gone through. This is something that people in general go through. This is a life thing... That’s real life, no games in that.”
